My Unforgettable Experience at the 2023 Power Trip Festival
As a long-time fan of rock and metal music, I’ve had my fair share of concerts, but nothing could have prepared me for the sheer intensity and unforgettable experience of 2023’s Power Trip Festival. Held in the iconic Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, this festival was an absolute dream come true for me!
The Lineup: A Dream Come True
The festival was essentially a celebration of rock and metals golden era, and it felt like a time machine. The lineup alone made my heart race. Here’s a quick rundown of the bands that made this festival one for the books:
- Friday:
-Iron Maiden. My absolute favorite band in the entire world! So much that Ive seen them live 8 times already! Nothing can beat their amazing stage theatrics, The triple guitar dream team, the galloping bass lines and Bruce Dickinsons monstrous vocals! It's never a dull moment seeing them live!
- Along with Iron Maiden was Guns N’ Roses, now I cant say too much about them because we ended up leaving midway through their set due to already standing up front in the blistering 105 degree heat for 8 hours that day!
- Saturday:
-Judas Priest. Absolutely electrifying! Although they had replaced Ozzy Osbourne on the lineup, they did not disappoint! They brought out all the classics while also premiering new songs!
- AC/DC - What can I say besides mind blowing! I was in complete and utter shock while watching them! The brain melting guitar work and showmanship of Angus with the rest of the band was pure chaos, but in a good way! Definitely my highlight of the weekend!
- Sunday:
- Tool. Now I’m not the biggest fan of Tool, so I probably wont go into too much detail, I was mainly saving my energy for the final closer of the weekend.
-Metallica. What a show! Bringing out all the classics with a few deep cuts. Those legendary thrash metal riffs, the crowd's roar, and the electric atmosphere, they just know how to put on a show!
One of the things that stood out about the Power Trip Festival was the overall vibe. The festival didn’t just give you great music, it fully immersed you in rock culture. From the vintage band merchandise to the classic album covers adorning the walls, everything felt like a deep dive into the roots of the genre.
The crowd was a crazy mix of people, fans who had been around since the ’70s and ’80s, young enthusiasts who were just discovering these legends, and those in between who’d spent years listening to these bands in their headphones. Everyone was united by a love for the music, and it created an undeniable sense of community.
There’s also something magical about the desert, and it made for the perfect backdrop to the festival. The heat during the day was intense, but as the sun set, the atmosphere changed, cooler temperatures and the setting sun made for a surreal experience. The landscape itself seemed to feed the energy of the crowd.
Power Trip Festival was everything I hoped for and more. It was more than just a music festival, it was a celebration of rock's legacy. A chance to witness the icons who helped shape the genre and to share that experience with thousands of like-minded fans.
Walking away from the festival, I couldn’t help but feel lucky. The memories of seeing my favorite bands perform live, feeling the collective energy of the crowd, and just being part of something that celebrated pure rock ‘n’ roll will stay with me forever.
If you have the chance to attend something like this in the future, do it. It’s the kind of experience that leaves you breathless, even days afterward. Here’s to the power of rock and to the unforgettable moments it creates.

Hi Paul I really like your blog about the power trip festival! I have also been dreaming about going to a music festival one day because it's something I'm very passionate about. Being able to see many of your favorite artist in one place is a crazy experience and would technically be cheaper than going to there concerts separately. Thanks for your thoughts and I hope you can see these bands again someday!
