Entry #01 Music heals the soul.
Hello fellow bloggers! My name is Paul. and I have many interests and hobbies, whether it be cooking, going out and trying new restaurants, hunting/fishing, going to concert, trying to find the next best pizza in Phoenix (That'll be my next blog!) My number #1 though, is music. All things music intrigue me, but I mostly enjoy playing music.
It started when I was just about 10 years old, but uncle had a tattoo of the mascot "Eddie" from the band Iron Maiden. I thought it was the coolest thing; He lent me numerous live DVD's from every type of band you can imagine. The first one that I put on was AC/DC Live from Donnington. From the very first note hit by their lead guitar player "Angus", I was hit with the bug. I wanted, no, I needed that to be me. The way he controlled the audience with a guitar, I was absolutely mind blown. For weeks afterwards, I would BEG my parents for a guitar, I started scrounging up every penny I could find to get every guitar magazine that I could get my hands on, subtly leaving guitar ads around the house in hopes that my parents would eventually get the hint. I eventually got my wish one Christmas morning, a sleek black BC rich Warlock, I would play that ting every single day!
Angus young, Live at Donnington 1991 Image source As the years went on, I played in a band in high school until we all had to go our separate ways after graduating. young adult life gets in the way, and it got put on the backburner but was always there as a way to relax, to get my mind off of all things stress. Something about it is so serene and will always put me in a great mood! I started getting more heavily back into it about 8 years ago and even played with a couple different bands once I moved to Phoenix. Having adult money can also be dangerous due to the fact I can now buy a new guitar if I please! 2 or 3 guitars, turns into 6 or 7 real fast! I'm just glad that my wife approves!

Sweet man. That's really awesome you have such a deep connection with music. When I first read "2 or 3 guitars, turns into 6 or 7 real fast" I was a bit fazed, until I remembered my buddy whose also into guitar thinks the same way lol.
ReplyDeleteIt's also really great that you're up there on stage - how's it up there? Do you feel a rush?
Yes! I absolutely agree! As a musician myself, I think music is so important and brings all types of people together. I find myself taking a lot of inspiration from my favorite bands. Not just in my writing or playing style, but in the tone or gear I want. AC/DC has influences so many people in this same way. That's awesome for you!
